Subject: Amended: Upgrade of the NCEP Air Quality Forecast
Amended to change the date of implementation of changes from
December 21, 2010, to December 14, 2010. Implementation of the changes to the Air Quality Forecast System is sooner
than specified by NWS Policy (NWS Instruction 10-1805). The reduction of the
normal advance lead time was approved to ensure the product will become
available before the extended computer system moratorium. Minimal changes to
software will be necessary to accommodate this product change.
Effective
Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 1200 coordinated
Universal
Time (UTC), the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will
upgrade the Ozone Model run in its operational production suite. This upgrade
will provide the following changes to this system:
- Expand the operational ozone prediction
products to add
maximum 1 hour average and maximum 8 hour average ozone
for the first day of prediction for CONUS
Once
operational, the output from this enhanced processing will be available from
the NWS National Digital Guidance Database (NDGD)
server at:
ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/ST.opnl/DF.gr2/DC.ndgd/GT.aq/AR.conus/
Maximum
1 hour average and maximum 8 hour average ozone for the first day of prediction
for CONUS are currently generated twice per day at NCEP. These data can be obtained from the
experimental NDGD server at:
ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/ST.expr/DF.gr2/DC.ndgd/GT.aq/AR.conus/
