Inland Flooding impacts:
The Inland Flooding impacts detailed in this WFO’s Inland Flooding Graphics are not associated with riverine flooding. Specific river observations and river stage forecasts in this WFO's area of responsibility are available from their Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) web site, at: New York City/Upton, New York
Low Prepare for the likelihood of minor flooding of low lying areas, with little or no property damage. Some flood prone-roads may be closed for brief periods of time.
Moderate Prepare for the likelihood of urban flooding, resulting in some road closures. Streams and creeks are expected to exceed their banks.
High Prepare for the likelihood of widespread flooding of both urban and rural areas. Flooding, resulting in the closure of many roadways and transportation systems is likely. Rivers, streams and creeks are expected to exceed their banks. Some streams and creeks could reach record levels Conditions similar to that experienced during Tropical Storm Floyd in September 1999 are expected.
Extreme Prepare for widespread record flooding of both urban and rural areas. Extreme and long-lasting damage to buildings and transportation systems from high water is likely.
