| Low |
Minor damage, primarily
to shrubbery, trees, and loose objects. A few older, weaker trees blown
down. Isolated power outages of up to 24 hours possible. Expect wind impacts
similar to those experienced from Tropical Storm Kyle in1996. |
| Moderate |
Moderate
damage with large branches and trees blown down. Some structural damage
to buildings. Significant power outages for a few days likely. Wind-blown
debris will block some roadways. Expect wind impacts similar to those experienced
from Hurricane Bonnie in 1998. |
| High |
Many trees and
power lines down or damaged. Widespread power outages for at least a week.
Major damage to well constructed buildings. Destruction of poorly constructed
buildings/mobile homes. Wind-blown debris will make many roadways impassable.
Expect wind impacts similar to those experienced from Hurricane Fran in
1996. |
| Extreme |
Most, if
not all, trees and power lines down or damaged. Power outages lasting several
weeks. Major damage to well-constructed buildings, including roofs blown
off. Most roads impassable due to large amounts of wind blown debris. Expect
wind impacts similar to those experienced in our area from Hurricane Hazel
in 1954 and along the Gulf coast from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. |
