WFO Buffalo Finds FFMP Invaluable

"FFMP was invaluable over the weekend [August 8-9] for monitoring rainfall," stated Lead Forecaster Alan Blackburn at WFO Buffalo. "I issued all the urban and small stream advisories based on FFMP. It was the primary tool I used, with backup information from a 2 panel storm total and 1 hour precip display. I issued separate warnings for Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Allegany, Livingston and Genesee counties. It was especially useful to have the instantaneous hourly precip rate and the total precipitation (easily selected for any period up to 6 hours) on the same line and displayed as a graphic - updated with each scan. It made it easy to watch for areas where problems were reached."
