Meteorological Products Processed At The NWSTG - Subsets
Notice: The files referenced on this page are updated every night. Please reload the page to insure that you have the latest information.
Subsets of the NWSTG Product Directory are provided here.
These subsets are content-specific sets of data received at or sent from the
NWSTG, identified for communication routing purposes
by a WMO Abbreviated Header. The products in a subset may
change on a daily basis as routing requirements evolve. The inclusion of a product in
a subset does not imply that the product is available, only that if received at the
NWSTG, the product will be routed as part of that subset. The format of the
subset files is the same as the format of the NWSTG Product Directory.
All subsets described below are available in a single file as
These files represent the state of all subsets as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].

Family of Services
The Family of Services (FOS) is made-up of multiple
data streams of meteorological and hydrological messages. The contents of the
individual services are defined by the users of the service.
All Family of Services subsets are available in a single file as
These files represent the state of all FOS subsets as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- Domestic Data Service (DDS)
- Primairly comprised of bulletins containing United States weather information or
observations.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the DDS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- Priority Domestic Data Service (PDDS)
- Primairly comprised of priority-processed bulletins containing United States weather information or
observations.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the PDDS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- International Data Service (IDS)
- Primairly comprised of bulletins containing weather information or observations
from outside of the United States.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the IDS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- Public Product Service (PPS)
- Primairly comprised of bulletins containing information of urgent need, such as
weather warnings and time critical information, such as hurricane and storm warnings.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the PPS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- High resolution Data Service (HDS)
- Primairly comprised of bulletins containing centrally generated analysis and
forecast fields in binary code forms. This is a highly cyclical transmission stream
for two to three hours after model run time containing products which requires
computer decoding and display.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the HDS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
International Satellite Communications System
The International Satellite Communications System
is composed of two systems for data delivery via satellite. The first system is the
World Aviation Forecast System (WAFS) which supports the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) program for aviation data distribution. The second is a Global
Telecommunication System (GTS) satellite system which will replace the World
Meteorological Organization's (WMO) Caribbean and Central America current distribution
and collection systems for Region IV and further the development of the GTS as a whole.
All ISCS subsets are available in a single file as

- WAFS Text Data Stream
- Comprised of bulletins containing textual data.
The directory subset is available as
These files represent the state of the ISCS as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
- WAFS GRIB Data Stream
- Comprised of bulletins containing gridded binary data.
The directory subset is available as

AWIPS/NOAAPort Data Transmission
AWIPS is an integrated suite of automated data-processing equipment that will be deployed to NWS Field Offices and National
Centers to support complex analysis, interactive processing, display of hydro-meteorological data, and the rapid dissemination of warnings and forecasts in a highly reliable manner. These sites will be supported by the AWIPS Communications Nework. A
Wide-Area-Network will connect sites for multi-point to point and point-to-point communications. NOAAPort provides the communications capability, via a satellite broadcast network, to afford internal and external users open access to much of NOAA's
centrally-collected and produced real-time environmental data. AWIPS hardware platforms and supporting communications
infrastructure have been designed and sized to accommodate planned future development. The NOAAPort broadcast system provides a one-way broadcast communication of NOAA environmental data and information
in near-real time to NOAA and external users. This broadcast service is implemented by a commercial provider of satellite
communications utilizing C-band.
All AWIPS/NOAAPort bulletins are available in a single file as
These files represent the state of the AWIPS/NOAAPort bulletin set as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
Emergency Manager's Weather Information Network
The Emergency Manager's Weather Information Network (EMWIN) provides access to weather and other critical emergency information.
EMWIN is available to internal and external users via radio, internet, and satellite.
All EMWIN bulletins are available in a single file as
These files represent the state of the EMWIN bulletin set as of [an error occurred while processing this directive].
A complete description of the format and meaning of an
Abbreviated Heading can be found in the WMO Manual On
Global Telecommunication System, Volume I, No. 386.
