AWIPS 2 Testing
FIT–TIM: December 2 – 4, 2008 New!
Last week (Dec 2, 3, and 4) OS&T hosted 6 WFO and RFC staff members here in Silver Spring to kick off the inaugural Forecaster Initial Testing (FIT) and for a Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) with Raytheon. From all accounts, both were very productive. During the FIT (Dec. 2-3) we were able to run AWIPS I and AWIPS II in a side-by-side mode on the same workstations. Particular focus was directed at evaluating WarnGen lifecycle product generation, GFE editing capabilities, and Bundle development. In addition to their contribution to hands-on testing, FIT team members: outlined a high level collaborative plan for constructing Common - Operational Test Scenarios (C-OTS) and Unique - Operational Test Scenarios (U-OTS), which will play a critical part in our Task Order 11 delivery and acceptance testing; contributed to UFE testing improvement planning; reviewed performance testing options and techniques with members of the IV&V team, and reviewed Site Migration issues and mitigation strategies with local application development leads. At the TIM (Dec. 4), Raytheon presented information regarding the transition from Mule to apache Camel and the advantages Camel brings to the project. Additional topics discussed included: T.O.10 architecture changes that impact developers; SmartTools in T.O.10; NCLADT
Q & A; General Alerting in T.O.10 (Guardian); NAWIPS Transition; and Hydro issues.
