• Identify and explore important emerging S&T issues and make reports and recommendations to NOAA climate leadership.

• Discuss R&D needs with scientists in operational centers  and communicate the issues to the research community.

• Analyze requests of R&D needs and give decision briefings to NWS S&T Committee / others when needed.

• Provide consultation on science issues to local forecasters.

• Invite distinguished researchers to address important issues in the NWS Science and Technology Seminar Series.
