This vast network of 39 stations provides real-time data to the Tsunami Warning System in order to provide coastal communities with faster and more accurate tsunami warnings |

| NOAA officials named Bill Read as the new director of its Miami-based Tropical Prediction Center, which includes the National Hurricane Center. |

average temperature for the contiguous U.S. in 2007 is officially
the tenth warmest on record, according to NOAA’s National
Climatic Data Center. The global surface temperature was the fifth
warmest. |
