National vertically-integrated liquid (VIL) mosaic.

National composite reflectivity mosaic.

National 18-dBZ echo tops mosaic.

National 4-km 1-hour rainfall mosaic from DPA products.

National 4-km 3-hour rainfall mosaic from DPA products.

National 4-km 6-hour rainfall mosaic from DPA products.

24-hour rainfall ending at 1200 UTC from DPA products.

Accumulated rainfall since 1200 UTC from DPA products.

These mosaics are being created as a demonstration/test project by the Decision Assistance Branch of MDL, which created the mosaic software and purchased a prototyping workstation, and the Networking and Communications Branch of NCEP Central Operations, which has kindly provided a site, networking, and system maintenance. Part of the test is to determine the type of platform needed to produce the mosaics fast enough to meet operational specifications.

These mosaics are NOT operational products.

Production failures will generally be fixed during regular working hours, though the responsible personnel might sometimes carry out fixes after hours.

We presently create the reflectivity, VIL, and 1-h DPA mosaics at 5-minute intervals, and the 3-h and 6-h DPA mosaics at 1-h intervals. Efforts are underway to create more mosaics.
