    Description of Job Duty Competency to be Achieved:

    Recognition of customers needs and partnership opportunities is critical to building strong relationships with land management agencies. Meteorologists need to understand how NWS products and services, as well as actual weather, impact the decision making process of land management agencies and personnel.

    • Ability 1. Apply the AOP to daily NWS operations
      • Skill 1.1. Describe the purpose and the content of your AOP
      • Skill 1.2. Implement AOP(s) within the office setting
      • Skill 1.3. Describe how NWS products outlined in the AOP affect customers
    • Ability 2. Identifying Customers
      • Skill 2.1. Identify the different types of jobs in the fire management world by position and by agency and the different skill levels these personnel may have
      • Skill 2.2. Use this knowledge to understand that fire weather products and services can be directed at a specific user or groups of users
    • Ability 3. Interact with customers
      • Skill 3.1. Strengthen partnerships through customer feedback
      • Skill 3.2. Participate in outreach activities
    • Ability 4. Understand how forecast weather elements impact our customers
      • Skill 4.1. Inventory different customer needs and which weather elements may be more critical to some than others
      • Skill 4.2. Use this knowledge to understand that fire weather products and services can be directed at a specific user or groups of users
