...GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL PERSIST OVER SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA...

THE GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS OVER THE REGION WILL DIMINISH SOME
OVERNIGHT TONIGHT BUT THEN QUICKLY STRENGTHEN AGAIN MONDAY
MORNING WITH MOST AREAS SEEING STRONGER WINDS MONDAY THAN TODAY.
THESE WINDS SHOULD THEN BEGIN TO DIMINISH MONDAY NIGHT WITH
TUESDAY SEEING MUCH LOWER WINDS WITH THE STRONG GUSTS RELEGATED
TO THE MORE COMMON WINDY AREAS SUCH AS SEWARD WHITTIER AND VALDEZ.

THESE GUSTY WINDS WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF BRANCHES BREAKING OFF

USE CAUTION AROUND CAMPFIRES AND BURN PILES AS THESE WINDS CAN
CAUSE FIRES TO SPREAD RAPIDLY.

THE RELIC ASH FROM THE 1912 KATMAI VOLCANO ERUPTION WILL CONTINUE
TO GET RESUSPENDED IN THESE STRONG WINDS AND IMPACT SHELIKOF
STRAIT AND PARTS OF KODIAK ISLAND WITH PERIODS OF POOR AIR

LOWER KUSKOKWIM VALLEY-
1129 AM AKDT SUN AUG 30 2015

HEAVY RAINFALL THAT OCCURRED ALONG THE NORTHERN AND WESTERN
SLOPES OF THE ALASKA RANGE LAST WEEK HAS PRODUCED A SURGE OF WATER
THAT IS PROGRESSING DOWN THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER. IT APPEARS THAT THE
RIVER CRESTED AT MCGRATH SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NOW THE WAVE OF HIGH
WATER IS MOVING PAST LISKYS CROSSING...JUST UPSTREAM OF THE
VILLAGE OF STONY RIVER.

THIS SURGE OF WATER IS PROGRESSING DOWNSTREAM AND WILL RESULT IN
RISING WATER ON THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER UPSTREAM OF ANIAK EARLY THIS
WEEK. AT THIS TIME THE WATER IS NOT EXPECTED TO REACH FLOOD STAGE
AT ANY LOCATION. HOWEVER...THOSE WITH INTERESTS ALONG THE
KUSKOKWIM RIVER SHOULD PREPARE FOR A 1 TO 3 FOOT RISE IN WATER
LEVELS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND MOVE PERSONAL BELONGINGS AWAY
FROM THE WATERS EDGE.
