404 PM CDT TUE JUL 22 2014 /504 PM EDT TUE JUL 22 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

  SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
   QUARTER SIZE HAIL.
BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...LEADING TO LOCALIZED FLOODING.
   FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER FAR NORTHERN
ILLINOIS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE TO SLIDE SOUTHEAST
ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA THROUGH TONIGHT. BEST TIMING FOR SEVERE
IS BETWEEN 7 AND 9 PM FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...8 AND 11 PM
FOR NORTHEAST ILLINOIS...AND BETWEEN 10 AND 1 PM FOR NORTHWEST
  INDIANA.

  DISCUSSION:

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA THIS EVENING. SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS ARE STILL POSSIBLE ALONG THE FRONT AS IT PASSES
THROUGH NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA. AT THIS TIME
WE DO NOT EXPECT WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS DUE TO A LAYER OF WARM
AIR JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE...BUT THE POTENTIAL FOR SCATTERED
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS STILL EXISTS THROUGH THE EVENING. THE COLD
FRONT CLEARS THE AREA IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS...ENDING MOST
OF THE THREAT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE AREA.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

THERE WILL BE CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH
MONDAY.

HAZARDOUS BEACH CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY MIDDAY WEDNESDAY THROUGH
MIDDAY THURSDAY ALONG THE ILLINOIS AND INDIANA SHORELINE.
