Weather Summary for SW VA...SE WV...and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
501 AM EDT WED JUN 29 2016

Isolated showers and thunderstorms continued into Tuesday night
with some stronger storms noted across portions of the area east
of the Blue Ridge through the late evening. Skies gradually
cleared overnight allowing patchy fog to develop across the
valleys and outlying areas just east of the mountains. Early
morning temperatures were mainly in the lower to mid 60s, with a
few 50s seen in the valleys prior to dawn.

A weak cold front will drift east through the region this morning
followed by drier high pressure this afternoon. As the high shifts
east, moisture will quickly return later this week ahead of
another cold front arriving from the northwest. This will result
in increasing chances for showers and storms into the holiday
weekend. Warm and humid conditions should also return with highs
mostly in the 80s outside of the higher elevations.
