LEAST 70 DEGREES ON 6 DAYS INCLUDING VALENTINE`S DAY WHEN THE HIGH
WAS 78 DEGREES. OF COURSE, THE COLD WEATHER WAS THE BIGGER STORY.
THE LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH BROUGHT US 3 DAYS WHEN THE HIGH DIDN`T
RISE ABOVE FREEZING: FEB 23RD...27TH AND 28TH. ALL THREE OF THOSE
DAYS SET DAILY RECORD COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURES.

DFW HAD A SLIGHTLY WETTER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY. THE MONTHLY
RAINFALL TOTAL WAS 2.96 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.30 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
MOST OF THE MONTH WAS DRY AS ONLY 0.37 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION HAD
FALLEN THROUGH THE FIRST 3 WEEKS OF FEBRUARY. HOWEVER, WE RECEIVED
2.59 INCHES IN THE LAST WEEK OF FEBRUARY TO TIP US OVER INTO THE
POSITIVE CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH.

DFW RECEIVED 2.3 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE MONTH, 2 INCHES OF WHICH
FELL ON FEBRUARY 27TH. ALL OF OUR MEASURABLE SNOW FOR THE SEASON SO
FAR OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY.

THE OVERALL DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY WINTER PERIOD WAS COLDER AND
SLIGHTLY WETTER THAN NORMAL. DFW HAD A WARMER THAN NORMAL DECEMBER
(AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 3.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL) BUT HAD A
COLDER THAN NORMAL JANUARY (1.3 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL) AND FEBRUARY
(4.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL). THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 46.8
DEGREES WHICH PUTS US IN A THREE-WAY TIE FOR THE 44TH COLDEST OUT OF
THE 117 WINTERS ON RECORD.

THE DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY PRECIPITATION TOTAL WAS 7.71 INCHES
WHICH IS 0.37 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. DECEMBER WAS DRIER THAN NORMAL,
FOLLOWED BY A WETTER THAN NORMAL JANUARY AND FEBRUARY. THE FIRST
HALF OF JANUARY WAS AMONG THE COLDEST ON RECORD FOR DALLAS/FORT
WORTH. ON NEW YEARS DAY...FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET FELL IN THE
METROPLEX. A CHILLY RAIN FOLLOWED ON JANUARY 2 AND 3. ON JANUARY
8...THE TEMPERATURE FELL INTO THE TEENS AT DFW AIRPORT FOR THE FIRST
TIME THIS WINTER.
