FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NE WYOMING AND WRN SOUTH DAKOTA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RAPID CITY SD
515 AM MDT WED APR 23 2014

.DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING...
WITH MORE SEASONABLE TEMEPRATURES BEHIND IT FOR THE REST OF THE
WORK WEEK. GUSTY WINDS CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA TODAY AND
THURSDAY...WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS ACROSS THE NORTHWEST AND WEST
CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA PLAINS EACH DAY. DRIER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE
REGION FOR THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEK. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL
DROP TO AROUND 20 PERCENT ON THURSDAY ACROSS THE WESTERN AND SOUTH
CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA PLAINS. THIS WOULD PRODUCE EXTREME GRASSLAND
FIRE DANGER ACROSS MUCH OF THIS AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

.DISCUSSION...AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT WILL RESULT IN A QUICKLY
INCREASING CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AFTER ABOUT 3 PM.
SHOWERS WILL BE WIDESPREAD ACROSS ALL OF THE WEST LATER THIS AFTERNOON
AND THROUGH THE NIGHT. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
AREA ALONG AND AHEAD OF THIS STRONG COLD FRONT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE
QUARTER TO ONE THIRD OF AN INCH CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE RAIN SHOWERS.
ANY THUNDERSTORMS COULD PRODUCE AN ADDITIONAL ONE QUARTER TO ONE THIRD
OF AN INCH WITH LOCAL ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS UP TO ONE HALF INCH. THE SPEED
OF THE STORMS SHOULD LIMIT REAL HEAVY AMOUNTS UNLESS MORE THAN ONE
THUNDERSTORM MOVES OVER THE AREA. THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE THE CAPABILITY
TO PRODUCE 50 TO 60 MPH WIND GUSTS AND SMALL TO MARBLE SIZE HAIL ALONG
WITH FREQUENT LIGHTNING BETWEEN 3 PM AND 8 PM. THE RAIN SHOWERS WILL TURN
TO SNOW AROUND MIDNIGHT WITH SNOW SHOWERS LIKELY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. SMALL
ACCUMULATIONS OF A SKIFF TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE AREA. WEDNESDAY
