THE KDAX WSR-88D RADAR AT DAVIS CALIFORNIA WHICH IS OWNED AND OPERATED
BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO WILL UNDERGO MAINTENANCE
FOR THREE DAYS STARTING THIS THURSDAY. THE WORK WILL BEGIN THURSDAY
AUGUST 21 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 700 AM PDT AND FINISH ON SATURDAY
AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 23 2014. DURING THIS WORK THE RADAR WILL BE
INOPERABLE AND NO DATA WILL BE AVAILABLE.

THE NEIGHBORING DOPPLER RADARS AT BEALE AIR FORCE BASE (KBBX), EUREKA
(KBHX), HANFORD (KHNX), MONTEREY (KMUX), AND RENO (KRGX) WILL CONTINUE
TO PROVIDE COVERAGE OVER PARTS OF THE KDAX AREA DURING THE OUTAGE.

THIS MAINTENANCE REQUIRES THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF PARTS OF THE
RADOME STRUCTURE. COMPLETION OF THIS WORK WILL EXTEND THE LIFESPAN OF
THE RADAR AND HELP PROTECT SENSITIVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT FROM THE
ELEMENTS.
