...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS REMAIN POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO
SATURDAY MORNING...

A VERY MOIST AIRMASS REMAINS IN PLACE OVER THE AREA THROUGH
TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY. AS A COLD FRONT MOVES INTO THIS AIRMASS
WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AND
SPREAD ACROSS THE AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY MORNING.
THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT SHOULD MOVE ACROSS THE AREA AT AROUND 30
MPH. HOWEVER THEY WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING RAIN RATES OF 2
INCHES OR MORE PER HOUR.

WIDESPREAD RAIN AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 1.5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT.
THESE RAINS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE ANY FLOODING PROBLEMS.
HOWEVER...IF STORMS ARE SLOWER MOVING OR REPEAT OVER THE SAME
LOCATION...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES WOULD BE
POSSIBLE... ALONG WITH A THREAT OF SOME FLASH FLOODING. IF A

HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
412 AM CDT FRI AUG 29 2014

...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS REMAIN POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO
SATURDAY MORNING...

THE RAIN THAT FELL THURSDAY GENERALLY PRODUCED RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF
AN INCH OR LESS...WITH SOME LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. WITH THESE
SOMEWHAT LIGHTER AMOUNTS...THE THREAT FOR FLOODING HAS
DIMINISHED...BUT THERE IS STILL THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME HEAVY
RAIN.

A VERY MOIST AIRMASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA INTO SATURDAY. AS
A COLD FRONT MOVES INTO THIS HUMID AIR...WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE
INTO TONIGHT BEFORE ENDING SATURDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS TODAY
THROUGH SATURDAY LOOK TO BE IN THE 1 TO 1.5 INCH RANGE WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.

WITH THESE ADDITIONAL RAINS...AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE EXPECTED
TO SEE WITHIN BANK RISES AND SOME PONDING OF WATER WILL LIKELY
OCCUR IN LOW LYING AREAS. AT THIS POINT...THE LIKELIHOOD OF RIVER
FLOODING OR FLASH FLOODING LOOKS TO BE RATHER LOW.

HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK

327 PM CDT THU AUG 28 2014

...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS REMAIN POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING...

THE FIRST ROUND OF RAIN TODAY HAS GENERALLY PRODUCED RAIN AMOUNTS
OF 1/2 INCH OR LESS. HOWEVER...A VERY MOIST AIRMASS WILL REMAIN
OVER THE AREA THROUGH SATURDAY. ADDITIONAL ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAIN
REMAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA...MAINLY TONIGHT AND FRIDAY
AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NOW LOOK TO BE MORE IN
THE 1.5 TO 2.5 INCH RANGE...WITH THE HEAVIER AMOUNTS NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 90. ANY SLOW MOVING OR REPEATING THUNDERSTORMS COULD
PRODUCE LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. THESE RAINS COULD STILL RESULT IN
WITHIN BANK RISES ON AREA WATERWAYS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR
LOCALIZED FLOODING.

IF THE RAINFALL TONIGHT OR FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY IS
HEAVIER THAN EXPECTED OR THUNDERSTORMS REPEAT OVER THE SAME
LOCATION...THE THREAT FOR FLASH FLOODING AND RIVER FLOODING WOULD
INCREASE.

STAY TUNED TO LATER FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS.
