...FLOOD WATCH WILL EXPIRE AT NOON EDT TODAY...

THE FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF NORTHERN MAINE WILL EXPIRE AT
NOON EDT TODAY.

ICE JAMS STILL EXIST ON THE ST. JOHN AND AROOSTOOK RIVERS WITH
OPEN WATER UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM FROM THE JAMS.

ON THE AROOSTOOK RIVER, ICE JAMS EXIST NEAR THE TOWN OF WASHBURN
AND DOWNSTREAM FROM THE FORT FAIRFIELD BRIDGE. MINOR FLOODING WAS
REPORTED WITH SOME ROADS STILL CLOSED TO TRAFFIC SUCH AS THE
GARDNER CREEK ROAD IN WASHBURN AND RIVERSIDE AVENUE IN FORT
FAIRFIELD.

ON THE SAINT JOHN RIVER, AN ICE JAM WAS IN PLACE FROM GRAND ISLE
TO THE VAN BUREN TOWN LINE. OPEN WATER WAS NOTED THROUGH THE JAM
WITH ICE THINNING OUT. ANOTHER ICE JAM WAS LOCATED NEAR THE ALLAGASH
AND SAINT FRANCIS TOWN LINE WITH OPEN WATER IN AND AROUND THE JAM.
SOME OVERWASH ALONG ROUTE 161 DID OCCUR BUT THE ROAD WAS OPEN TO
TRAFFIC.

THE THREAT FOR ICE JAM FLOODING AT THIS TIME HAS LESSENED AS
WATER LEVELS HAVE RECEDED OVER THE LAST 12 HOURS. WATER LEVELS
WILL REMAIN HIGH AND RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG THE AROOSTOOK RIVER,
SAINT JOHN RIVER AND THE TRIBUTARIES SHOULD MONITOR WATER LEVELS
CLOSELY THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
