AT 313 PM CDT...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED THE
HEAVIEST RAINFALL HAS MOVED OUT OF THE CITY OF LAKE CHARLES WITH
HEAVIEST RAINFALL PRODUCING FLASH FLOODING SOUTH OF THE CITY FROM
POINTS AROUND THE LAKE CHARLES REGIONAL AIRPORT TO HOLMWOOD.

LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO LAKE CHARLES
AND IOWA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WARNED AREA. THE LAKE CHARLES REGIONAL AIRPORT RECIEVED ALMOST 1.50
INCHES OF RAINFALL IN AN HOUR PERIOD BETWEEN 2 PM AND 3 PM. STREET
FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED ON NUMEROUS ROADWAYS IN THE CITY OF LAKE
CHARLES...AND WILL CONTINUE DESPITE THE HEAVY RAINFALL ENDING...AS
IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME FOR THE WATERS TO RECEDE.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
