FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
242 PM EDT WED APR 27 2016

.DISCUSSION...HIGH PRESSURE OFFSHORE CONTINUES TO FEED MILD AND
MOIST LOW-LEVEL AIR NORTH ACROSS THE AREA. A COLD FRONT APPROACHING
FROM THE WEST THURSDAY WILL REACH THE AREA LATE THURSDAY NIGHT.

A LIGHT S-SW BREEZE WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING
PROVIDING GENERALLY FAIR DISPERSION. LOW LEVEL MOISTURE FEED IS LIKELY
TO BE CONCENTRATED UP INTO THE SAVANNAH RIVER VALLEY IN THE MORNING...
SO AREAS OF PATCHY FOG CANNOT BE RULED OUT IN THE CSRA...BUT WIDESPREAD
FOG IS NOT EXPECTED.

EXPECT SW WINDS TO INCREASE TO AROUND 10 MPH AFTER INVERSION BREAK THURSDAY
MORNING AND BECOME GUSTY TO AROUND 15-17 MPH BY AFTERNOON. AS THE FRONT
APPROACHES THE REGION...ALONG WITH UPPER LEVEL TROUGHS AHEAD OF IT ISOLATED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED. MIXING HEIGHTS WILL BE FAVORABLE
WITH TRANSPORT WINDS OF 15-18 MPH. MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL BE
40-45 PERCENT.

EXPECT SURFACE AND TRANSPORT WINDS TO SHIFT W-NW ON FRIDAY...WITH DRIER
AIR WORKING ITS WAY IN...MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP DOWN TO
AROUND 25-30 PERCENT.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
400 AM EDT WED APR 27 2016

.DISCUSSION...
THE PERSISTENT SURFACE RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT A
MOIST SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ACROSS THE AREA TODAY
WITH SURFACE WINDS INCREASING TO 10 TO 15 MPH BY LATE
MORNING. DAYTIME HEATING WILL SUPPORT ISOLATED SHOWERS
THIS AFTERNOON BUT COVERAGE SHOULD REMAIN LIMITED AND
LIKELY FOCUSED ALONG A SEA BREEZE BOUNDARY IN THE EASTERN
MIDLANDS. A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH FROM THE NORTH ON
THURSDAY AND PROVIDE INCREASING CHANCES OF SHOWERS AND
STORMS AS AN UPPER DISTURBANCE CROSSES THE REGION.

LOW CHANCE OF FOG THIS MORNING DUE TO OVERNIGHT LOW LEVEL
JET THAT KEPT BOUNDARY LAYER WINDS UP. FAVORABLE MIXING
HEIGHTS EXPECTED TODAY AND THURSDAY ABOVE 5000 FT. MIN
RH VALUES WILL FALL TO AROUND 40 PERCENT BOTH DAYS WITH
TRANSPORT WINDS FROM THE SOUTHWEST AROUND 15 MPH.
