FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
405 AM CDT THU APR 24 2014

.DISCUSSION...
A LINE OF SHOWERS WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING...AHEAD OF AN ADVANCING
COLD FRONT OUT OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS STATES. SOME STORMS
MAY PRODUCE BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND SMALL HAIL
LATER THIS EVENING AND INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. HIGH PRESSURE WILL
THEN QUICKLY MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE CENTRAL GULF REGION IN THE WAKE
OF THE FRONTAL PASSAGE THIS WEEKEND...RESULTING IN QUIET AND DRY
WEATHER CONDITIONS...COUPLED WITH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING ABOVE
SEASONAL TRENDS. A STRONGER STORM SYSTEM OUT OF THE MIDDLE PLAINS
WILL THEN AFFECT MUCH OF THE REGION GOING INTO THE NEW WORK
WEEK...WITH STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND POTENTIALLY MULTIPLE
ROUNDS OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ALL POSSIBLE STARTING LATE SUN AND
CONTINUING INTO EARLY TUE.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
254 PM CDT TUE APR 22 2014

.DISCUSSION...
SHOWERS WILL GRADUALLY MOVE OFF TO THE SOUTHEAST OVER THE COMING
COUPLE OF HOURS WITH DRY AND COOLER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TONIGHT IN
THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT. FOG FORMATION IS LIKELY TONIGHT AS WINDS
DIE OFF AND MOISTURE FROM RAINFALL TODAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE HIGHER
LIKELIHOOD FOR FOG.

MUCH DRIER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE REGION WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WHICH
COULD CAUSE MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES TO DROP BELOW 25
PERCENT, ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTHEAST ALABAMA. THUS, A RED FLAG
WARNING MAY BE NEEDED OVER THAT AREA FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

DRY WEATHER AND SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL PREVAIL ON THURSDAY WITH
SOMEWHAT HIGHER MOISTURE ACROSS THE REGION. THEN, SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO RETURN TO THE AREA ON THURSDAY NIGHT
INTO FRIDAY AS ANOTHER COLD FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. THE REST
OF THE WEEKEND SHOULD BE GENERALLY DRY WITH SOME ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THEN, MORE WIDESPREAD
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED BY MONDAY.
