THE AREA IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN UPPER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WHICH
IS OVER LAKE EIRE. A SURFACE FRONT IS CURRENTLY MOVING THROUGH THE
AREA. IT HAS NOT AMOUNTED TO MUCH MORE THAN A WIND SHIFT AND CLOUDS.
THE UPPER LOW IS FORECAST TO MOVE TO THE SOUTH ACROSS EASTERN OHIO
AND THEN WEST VIRGINA. BY WEDNESDAY MORNING...THE UPPER LOW WILL BE
OVER CENTRAL VIRGINIA. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR VARIABLE CLOUDINESS AND
GENERALLY COOL AND DAMP WEATHER TO CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN KENTUCKY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
529 AM EDT TUE OCT 21 2014

.DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT WILL EXIT EASTERN KY DURING THE EARLY
MORNING HOURS TODAY. BEHIND THIS FRONT...EXPECT NW FLOW AND COOLER
TEMPERATURES. HOWEVER...A STRONG LOW LOCATED TO OUR NE /OVER THE MID-
ATLANTIC STATES/ WILL ALLOW FOR WRAP AROUND MOISTURE TO FLOW BACK
INTO EASTERN KY. THIS MOISTURE...IN CONJUNCTION WITH NW WINDS...WILL
PRODUCE CHANCES OF LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS OVER THE UPSLOPING AREAS OF
FAR EASTERN KY THROUGH TONIGHT...AS WELL AS CLOUD COVER ACROSS MUCH
OF THE REGION. AS THE LOW SLOWLY MOVES EASTWARD...THE WRAP AROUND
MOISTURE WILL FINALLY BEGIN TO MOVE OUT OF EASTERN KY...WITH CLEARING
SKIES EXPECTED TO ENSUE AS WE HEAD INTO LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND
WEDNESDAY EVENING. WINDS WILL BE A LITTLE ON THE BREEZY SIDE DUE TO
THE STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENTS BETWEEN THE EXITING LOW AND INCOMING
HIGH PRESSURE...BUT SHOULD GENERALLY REMAIN BELOW 15 MPH WITH
HIGHEST WINDS EXPECTED DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

NOT DROP DOWN VERY LOW IN THE NEXT WEEK...SO PRESCRIBED BURNING WILL
BE A CHALLENGE.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN KENTUCKY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
526 AM EDT MON OCT 20 2014

.DISCUSSION...A LINE OF SHOWERS WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA FROM THE NW
TODAY...AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT. OVERALL...DO NOT EXPECT
MUCH IMPACT FROM THESE SHOWERS...WITH LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS AT BEST.
THE COLD FRONT ITSELF WILL ALSO BE FAIRLY WEAK...WITH WINDS EXPECTED
TO GENERALLY STAY BELOW 10 TO 12 MPH. RH VALUES TODAY WILL BE ON THE
INCREASE...WITH GENERALLY ABOVE 50 PERCENT EXPECTED...INCREASING TO
AROUND 60 PERCENT BY TOMORROW. ONCE THE COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH
EASTERN KY OVERNIGHT TONIGHT...WINDS WILL BECOME NORTHERLY AND USHER
IN SLIGHTLY COOLER AIR ONCE MORE. WRAP AROUND MOISTURE FROM THE LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM JUST OFF TO OUR EAST COULD LEAD TO SOME CONTINUED
LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS IN THE UPSLOPE REGIONS OF FAR EASTERN KY THROUGH
THE DAY TOMORROW AS WELL. HIGH PRESSURE AND DRIER CONDITIONS WILL
TAKE HOLD BY WEDNESDAY.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN KENTUCKY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
331 PM EDT SUN OCT 19 2014

.DISCUSSION...

THE AREA WILL BE UNDER A SURFACE HIGH AND WILL BE UNDER
NORTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT. A SHORT WAVE WILL MOVE DOWN THE BACK SIDE
OF THE LONG WAVE AND WILL BE MOVING ACROSS THE AREA ON MONDAY
AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AS A RESULT OF THIS SHORT WAVE...SHOWERS WILL
MOVE INTO THE AREA ON MONDAY AFTERNOON WITH SHOWERS CONTINUING INTO
MONDAY NIGHT. THE MAIN ISSUE IN THIS FORECAST PERIOD IS THE
POTENTIAL FOR SOME PATCHY FROST TOMORROW MORNING. WITH THE LIGHT
WINDS...DRY AIR...AND CLEAR SKIES...ALLOWING THE TEMPERATURES TO
DROP AND SOME PATCHY FROST TO FORM. WE WILL NOT SEE RH LESS THAN 50
PERCENT UNTIL THURSDAY.
