FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
416 AM CDT SAT APR 25 2015

.DISCUSSION...

RH/S WILL DROP TO 10 TO 15 PERCENT OVER MUCH OF THE FORECAST AREA
THIS AFTERNOON, BUT WINDS WILL NOT BE AS STRONG AS FRIDAY. DUE TO
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OVER THE PERMIAN BASIN AND DAVIS MOUNTAINS, NEAR
NORMAL HIGH TEMPS, GREENUP AND LOW ERC/S, WILL ISSUE ANOTHER FIRE
DANGER STATEMENT FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND WEST OF A LAMESA TO WINK TO
ALPINE LINE. WINDS WILL SUBSIDE THIS EVENING WITH FAIR TO GOOD
RECOVERY TONIGHT. WINDIER CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR AREAWIDE SUNDAY,
BUT DUE TO THE REASONS GIVEN ABOVE, AND TEMPS DROPPING AND RH/S
RISING DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON OVER THE GUADALUPES, SE NM AND
UPPER TRANS PECOS WITH THE PACIFIC FRONT, WILL LIKELY UTILIZE
ANOTHER FIRE DANGER STATEMENT. A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
INTO THE REGION MONDAY AND ALLEVIATE FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
THROUGH MID NEXT WEEK.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
203 PM CDT FRI APR 24 2015

.DISCUSSION...
GUSTY WEST WINDS OVER MUCH OF THE AREA TODAY, WITH HIGHER SPEEDS IN
THE GUADALUPES WHERE A HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS. RH/S CONTINUE TO
SLOWLY DECREASE AND MAY REACH NEAR 15 PERCENT LATER THIS AFTERNOON
PARTICULARLY ACROSS THE WEST. REGARDLESS, RECENT RAINFALL, GREEN UP
OF FOLIAGE AND NEAR NORMAL HIGH TEMPS WILL KEEP FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS
BELOW CRITICAL LEVELS. A FIRE DANGER STATEMENT REMAINS FOR LOCATIONS
ALONG AND WEST OF A LAMESA TO KERMIT TO ALPINE LINE. RECOVERY TONIGHT
WILL BE FAIR TO GOOD. SIMILAR CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED SATURDAY
AND SUNDAY. FOR THE SAME REASONS AS ABOVE, A RED FLAG WARNING DOES
NOT APPEAR TO BE WARRANTED EITHER AFTERNOON/EVENING.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
402 AM CDT FRI APR 24 2015

.DISCUSSION...

WESTERLY WINDS WILL RISE TO 20 TO 35 MPH SUSTAINED OVER MUCH OF THE
AREA, WITH HIGHER SPEEDS IN THE GUADALUPE MTNS WHERE A HIGH WIND
WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED. EVEN THOUGH RH/S WILL DROP TO 10 TO 15
PERCENT OVER PORTIONS OF THE SE NM PLAINS, VAN HORN AREA, UPPER
TRANS PECOS AND WESTERN PERMIAN BASIN, RECENT RAINFALL, GREEN UP OF
FOLIAGE AND NEAR NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL PRECLUDE THE ISSUANCE
OF A RED FLAG WARNING. HOWEVER, A FIRE DANGER STATEMENT WILL BE IN
EFFECT FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND WEST OF A LAMESA TO KERMIT TO ALPINE
LINE. RECOVERY TONIGHT WILL BE FAIR TO GOOD. MORE BREEZY TO WINDY
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. FOR THE SAME REASONS
AS ABOVE, A RED FLAG WARNING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE WARRANTED EITHER
AFTERNOON/EVENING.

THE WEEKEND AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW APPROACHES OUT OF THE ROCKIES SO
NO RED FLAG WARNINGS ARE EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. OVERNIGHT RECOVERY
WILL BE FAIR TO GOOD.
