FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL
ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
524 AM MST FRI APR 18 2014

...DRY THUNDERSTORMS AND GUSTY WINDS EXPECTED TODAY...

.DISCUSSION...
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING INCREASING CLOUDS AND COOLER
CONDITIONS TO THE REGION TODAY AND SATURDAY. GIVEN THE DRIER NATURE
OF THE ATMOSPHERE...VIRGA SHAFTS AND ISOLATED DRY THUNDERSTORMS WITH
GUSTY WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND PORTIONS
OF SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA LATER TODAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED AGAIN SATURDAY...WITH THE BEST CHANCES FOR WETTING RAINS
OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN AREAS NORTH AND EAST OF PHOENIX.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
IN THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION. SEE PRODUCT PHXAFDPSR.

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL
ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
138 PM MST THU APR 17 2014

.DISCUSSION...
A PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING INCREASING MOISTURE
ALONG WITH COOLER CONDITIONS TO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST FRIDAY. GIVEN THE DRY
CONDITIONS AT THE SURFACE...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR VIRGA WITH
LOCALIZED DOWNBURSTS AND FIRE DANGER WILL BE ENHANCED IN THESE
AREAS. WIDESPREAD CRITICAL THRESHOLDS SHOULD NOT BE REALIZED HOWEVER
AND RECOVERIES FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE GOOD. ISOLATED SHOWERS AND EVEN
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AS THE ATMOSPHERE
BECOMES INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE. HOWEVER...RAIN CHANCES WILL GENERALLY
REMAIN CONFINED TO THE AREAS NORTH AND EAST OF PHOENIX.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL
ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
308 AM MST THU APR 17 2014

.DISCUSSION...
WARM TEMPERATURES ALONG WITH RELATIVELY LIGHT AFTERNOON WINDS ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA TODAY. AFTERNOON HUMIDITIES WILL DROP INTO
THE UPPER SINGLE DIGITS WITH FAIR OVERNIGHT RECOVERY EXPECTED. ON
FRIDAY A WEAK PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION
AND WILL BRING ISOLATED SHOWERS TO THE AREA. THE STORMS WILL LIKELY
PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS IN LIEU OF SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL AND AS A RESULT
THERE COULD BE LOCALIZED AREAS WHERE THE FIRE DANGER IS ENHANCED
FRIDAY AFTERNOON. WIDESPREAD CRITICAL THRESHOLDS SHOULD NOT BE
REALIZED HOWEVER AND RECOVERIES FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE GOOD.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
