FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANCHORAGE AK
327 PM AKDT MON MAR 30 2015

.DISCUSSION...
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IN THE SOUTHERN GULF CONTINUES TO PUSH WEAK
UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST. THESE
DISTURBANCES HAVE RESULTED IN NUMEROUS RAIN SHOWER ACTIVITY ALONG THE
GULF COAST...WHILE INLAND AREAS HAVE BEEN DOMINATED BY DOWNSLOPING
FROM THE CHUGACH AND KENAI MOUNTAINS. RH VALUES IN THE MATANUSKA VALLEY
HAVE DROPPED INTO THE 30 PERCENT RANGE THIS AFTERNOON AND ARE EXPECTED
TO DO SO AGAIN ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. AS A LOW ENTERS THE WESTERN GULF
ON WEDNESDAY...WINDS WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE IN THE MATANUSKA VALLEY AND
ALONG TURNAGAIN ARM. A FEW RAIN SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE COOK
INLET REGION AND MATANUSKA VALLEY...BUT WILL YIELD LITTLE ACCUMULATIONS
IF ANYTHING MAKES IT TO THE GROUND.

.DISCUSSION...

A FRONT MOVING INLAND TONIGHT WILL BRING PLENTY OF SHOWERS TO
COASTAL LOCATIONS WITH SOME MAKING THEIR WAY ACROSS THE CHUGACH
AND KENAI MOUNTAINS. A NEARLY STATIONARY UPPER LOW OVER THE AKPEN
AND KODIAK ISLAND WILL CONTINUE TO SEND PERIODIC WAVES OF MOISTURE
TO THE GULF COAST. THESE WILL BRING SHOWERS TO ALL ZONES THROUGH
MON...WITH SOME SNOW TO MOUNTAIN PASSES. BREAKS IN THE
PRECIPITATION WILL BE MORE COMMON AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. THESE
BREAKS WILL ALLOW LOCAL TEMPERATURES TO RISE...AND SOME
DOWNSLOPING WILL KEEP DRIER AIR IN THE MATANUSKA VALLEY THROUGH
MON. AFTERNOON RH VALUES THERE WILL FALL INTO THE 30 TO 40 PERCENT
RANGE ON SUN WITH WINDS LESS THAN 20 MPH. WINDS WILL BE EVEN LESS
ON MON WITH HIGHER RH VALUES.

.DISCUSSION...

A FRONT MOVING INLAND TONIGHT WILL BRING PLENTY OF SHOWERS TO COASTAL
WITH SOME MAKING THEIR WAY ACROSS THE CHUGACH AND KENAI MOUNTAINS.
A NEARLY STATIONARY UPPER LOW OVER THE AKPEN AND KODIAK ISLAND WILL
CONTINUE TO SEND PERIODIC WAVES OF MOISTURE TO THE GULF COAST THROUGH
THESE WILL BRING SHOWERS TO ALL ZONES THROUGH MON...WITH SOME SNOW
TO MOUNTAIN PASSES. BREAKS IN THE PRECIPITATION WILL BE MORE COMMON
AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. THESE BREAKS WILL ALLOW LOCAL TEMPERATURES TO
RISE...AND SOME DOWNSLOPING WILL KEEP DRIER AIR IN THE MATANUSKA VALLEY
THROUGH MON. AFTERNOON RH VALUES THERE WILL FALL INTO THE 30 TO 40
PERCENT RANGE ON SUN WITH WINDS LESS THAN 20 MPH. WINDS WILL BE EVEN
LESS ON MON WITH HIGHER RH VALUES.

.DISCUSSION...
