SPOT FORECAST FOR GASLYN BURN...ST CROIX TRIBE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN
1011 AM CDT TUE APR 22 2014

FORECAST IS BASED ON IGNITION TIME OF 1100 CDT ON APRIL 22.
IF CONDITIONS BECOME UNREPRESENTATIVE...CONTACT THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE.

.DISCUSSION...

RELATIVELY QUIET WEATHER IS EXPECTED TODAY THANKS TO HIGH PRESSURE
OVER THE REGION. EXPECT SUNNY SKIES WITH NORTH TO NNW WINDS OF ABOUT
8 TO 10 MPH WITH GUSTS TO ABOUT 15 MPH BY THE PROPOSED BURN TIME.
MODELS SOUNDINGS SUGGEST THAT THE GUSTS TO ABOUT 15 MPH WILL LIKELY
CONTINUE THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON, BUT THAT AFTER ABOUT 2 PM THE
WINDS SHOULD GRADUALLY WEAKEN AND BECOME A BIT MORE N RATHER THAN
NNW. THE MIXING AND SUN SHOULD LET THE RH GET DOWN TO ABOUT 30 TO
35 PERCENT. IT COULD BE CLOSER TO 30 PERCENT IF THE HIGH TEMPERATURE
GETS A COUPLE DEGREES ABOVE 55.

FEEL FREE TO CALL US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. WE ARE
HAPPY TO HELP!

.TODAY...

SKY/WEATHER.........SUNNY...BECOMING MOSTLY SUNNY.

WIND (20 FT)........NORTH WINDS 10 TO 14 MPH LATE THIS MORNING...
BECOMING 6 TO 10 MPH BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.
MIXING HEIGHT.......1100 FT AGL INCREASING TO 6200 FT AGL.
TRANSPORT WINDS.....NORTH 15 TO 20 MPH.
SMOKE DISPERSAL.....EXCELLENT (63200) LATE IN THE MORNING...THEN
INCREASING TO EXCELLENT (85100) EARLY IN THE
AFTERNOON DECREASING TO EXCELLENT (76300) LATE IN

FORECAST IS BASED ON IGNITION TIME OF 1100 CDT ON APRIL 22.

SERVICE.

.DISCUSSION...

RELATIVELY QUIET WEATHER IS EXPECTED TODAY THANKS TO A HIGH PRESSURE
RIDGE OVER THE REGION. THE CLOUD COVER THIS MORNING SHOULD DISSIPATE
BEGIN TO BREAK UP BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON, SO SUNNY SKIES ARE STILL
LIKELY TO DEVELOP TODAY. IN THE REMOTE CHANCE THE CLOUD COVER HANGS
ON, THE TEMPERATURES COULD BE LOWER AND RH A BIT HIGHER. OTHERWISE,
THE VERY LIGHT AND SOMEWHAT VARIABLE WINDS SHOULD BECOME ABOUT 5 MPH
OUT OF THE NNW. THE MINIMUM RH SHOULD BE ABOUT 30 TO 35 PERCENT.
EVEN THOUGH THE WIND IS OUT OF THE NNW, IT APPEARS THE WIND IS LIGHT
ENOUGH AND THE LOCATION FAR ENOUGH INLAND FROM LEECH LAKE THAT THE
LAKE SHOULD NOT HAVE MUCH OF AN IMPACT ON THE BURN. HOWEVER...IT IS
POSSIBLE THE RELATIVELY COLD LAKE COULD KEEP THE TEMPERATURE DOWN
AND RH HIGHER BY A BIT. SMOKE DISPERSION SHOULD BE GOOD BY THE
PROPOSED 11 AM BURN TIME.

FEEL FREE TO GIVE US A CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.
WE ARE HAPPY TO HELP!
