FORECAST IS BASED ON IGNITION TIME OF 1015 EDT ON APRIL 24.

WEATHER SERVICE.

.DISCUSSION...

HIGH PRESSURE WILL PROMOTE ONE MORE DAY OF LOW AFTERNOON
HUMIDITY. HUMIDITY MINIMUMS WILL DIP INTO THE 20-30 PERCENT
RANGE DURING THE PEAK HEATING PART OF THE AFTERNOON. WINDS
WILL BE LIGHT DURING THE MORNING HOURS...BUT THE WINDS SHOULD
INCREASE TO 5-10 MPH MAINLY FROM THE SOUTH...ALTHOUGH A LITTLE
DEVIATION TO THE SOUTHEAST IS POSSIBLE AT EYE LEVEL GIVEN THE
UPSLOPE FLOW NEAR THE BURN LOCATION THAT MAY OCCUR IN THE
AFTERNOON.

CLOUDS WILL BE ON A GRADUAL INCREASE THIS MORNING DUE TO
INCREASING MID AND UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT
THAT WILL ARRIVE ON FRIDAY. CLOUD SHADING TODAY WILL RANGE
FROM 20 TO 40 PERCENT ACROSS THE NORTH CAROLINA BLUE RIDGE
AND FOOTHILLS. TEN HOUR FUEL MOISTURES SHOULD DECREASE TO
7-8 GRAMS TOWARD THE LATE AFTERNOON.

MID AND UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL
ARRIVE ON FRIDAY. CLOUD SHADING TODAY WILL RANGE FROM 20 TO 40
PERCENT ACROSS THE NORTH CAROLINA BLUE RIDGE AND FOOTHILLS.

.DISCUSSION...

A COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE AREA TODAY...
PRECEDED AND ACCOMPANIED BY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS. THIS SHOULD KEEP MOISTURE LEVELS HIGHER THAN
VALUES SEEN OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS WITH RELATIVE
HUMIDITY STAYING ABOVE 35-40 PERCENT INTO THIS AFTERNOON. HOWEVER
WEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE ALONG AND BEHIND THE FRONTAL
PASSAGE WHICH LOOKS TO OCCUR EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. A COUPLE
BANDS OF SHOWERS AND STORMS MAY ACCOMPANY THE FRONT AS WELL
MAINLY BETWEEN 11 AM AND 3 PM. RAINFALL OF AROUND ONE TENTH OF
AN INCH APPEARS POSSIBLE WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WITHIN
HEAVIER SHOWERS OR STORMS. STRONGER NORTHWEST WINDS ARRIVE
BEHIND THE FRONT THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO WEDNESDAY
WHEN MIXING SHOULD BE ENHANCED WHILE HUMIDITY DROPS TO
BELOW 30 PERCENT AGAIN.
