SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWING CONSIDERABLE CUMULUS CLOUD GROWTH OVER
THIS AREA THE PAST HOUR. ALSO A FEW THUNDERSTORMS HAVE JUST
SPRUNG UP SOUTH OF EL PASO AND HUDSPETH COUNTIES. ISOLATED SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP EAST OF THE RIO GRANDE
VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AS AN UPPER TROUGH MOVES OVER THE AREA. THE
STORMS WILL MOVE EAST-SOUTHEAST AT AROUND 10 MPH. EXPECT BRIEF
HEAVY RAINFALL...PEA SIZE HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS TO 40 MPH. THE
UPPER TROUGH MOVES EAST OF THE AREA BY LATE AFTERNOON WITH THE
SHOWERS ENDING.

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF THIS AREA.
STRONGER CELLS ARE LOCATED JUST EAST OF OROGRANDE AND BETWEEN
HUECO MOUNTAINS AND CORNUDAS. WHILE MOST OF THE RAINFALL IS OF THE
LIGHT TO MODERATE AMOUNT...RADAR IS ESTIMATING A COUPLE OF HIGHER
AREAS OF RAINFALL...UP TO ABOUT ONE INCH TO ONE AND ONE-QUARTER
INCH OF RAIN. THESE AREAS ARE OUT IN RURAL AREAS ABOUT 18 MILES
WEST OF CORNUDAS AND ALSO 16 MILES SOUTHEAST OF OROGRANDE. SMALL
HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH SOME
OF THESE STORMS.

THESE STORMS WILL BE MOVING NORTH AROUND 5 TO 10 MPH. AREAS THAT
COULD BE AFFECTED THROUGH 4 PM INCLUDE RURAL LOCATIONS OF OTERO
COUNTY EAST OF HIGHWAY 54...HUECO TANKS...LOMA LINDA AND CORNUDAS. THE
STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN WEAK...BUT COULD PRODUCE BRIEF
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN WITH WIND GUSTS TO 35 MPH AND PEA SIZE
HAIL. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY BE UNDER A QUARTER INCH BUT
LOCALIZED AREAS COULD SEE OVER A HALF INCH UNDER THE STRONGEST
CELLS.
