RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ABERDEEN SD
445 AM CDT THU MAY 28 2015

.DISCUSSION...
THERE SHOULD BE JUST A FEW SHOWERS...POSSIBLY A
THUNDERSTORM...AROUND THIS MORNING FOR A SHORT WHILE. AFTER A
BREAK IN THE PRECIPITATION CHANCES LATER THIS MORNING INTO EARLY
AFTERNOON...ANOTHER AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVING THROUGH THE
FORECAST AREA WILL COMBINE WITH AN ADVANCING COLD FRONT TO
GENERATE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND
NORTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA BY LATE AFTERNOON. SOME THUNDERSTORMS
COULD BE ON THE STRONG SIDE WITH HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS. THE COLD
FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY FRIDAY
MORNING...BRINGING MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES AND BREEZY NORTH TO
NORTHEAST WINDS FOR FRIDAY. PRECIPITATION CHANCES DECREASE RAPIDLY
ON FRIDAY...LEAVING THE WEEKEND DRY WITH HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE
NORTHERN PLAINS.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY
THIS AFTERNOON. FAVORABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A HIGH MOISTURE
CONTENT OF GRASSES...AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL ON THE
GROUND...INDICATE THAT THE PROBABILITY OF A FIRE OCCURRENCE IS
LOW. OUTDOOR BURNING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS CAN USUALLY BE
PERFORMED WITH REASONABLE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

THE OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX
WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY.
