RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD
357 AM CDT FRI OCT 31 2014

.DISCUSSION...
RELATIVELY LIGHT WINDS AND BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED
TODAY AS SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE MOVES ACROSS THE AREA. AS THIS HIGH
PRESSURE SYSTEM SHIFTS EAST...SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL INCREASE AND
BECOME QUITE STRONG. ON SATURDAY...STRONG WINDS ALONG WITH
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FALLING TO 25 TO 30 PERCENT WILL RESULT IN AN
ELEVATED FIRE DANGER ACROSS ALL DISTRICTS ON SATURDAY. THE WINDS
WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY...THOUGH
WARMER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED UNDER A MOSTLY CLEAR SKY.

MODERATE MOISTURE CONTENT OF GRASSES...AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC
MATERIAL ON THE GROUND...INDICATE THAT THERE IS SOME POTENTIAL
FOR A FIRE OCCURRENCE. DO NOT LEAVE OUTDOOR FIRES UNATTENDED
UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.

THE OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER
INDEX WILL REACH THE VERY HIGH CATEGORY.
