DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH, NC
1001 AM EDT TUE MAY 3 2016

Numerous showers and thunderstorms brought some much needed
heavy rainfall to much of the Raleigh Hydrologic Service Area over
the past 24 hours. There were two large rainfall swaths of 1 to 2
inches across the area; one swath extending across the northwest
Piedmont region with the other swath extending across the southern
Piedmont, Sandhills and southern Coastal Plain regions. Elsewhere,
amounts generally ranged from one half of an inch to one inch. In
response to the heavy rainfall, area creeks and small streams are
running high this morning, but mainstem rivers remain well within
their banks.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected again today.
Widespread rainfall amounts of one half inch to an inch can be
expected with localized amounts up to two inches possible in areas
that experience multiple rounds of showers and storms.
As a result, expect gradual rises along streams and rivers with
some minor flooding possible, mainly along smaller creeks andstreams.

An unseasonably strong upper level low moving into the region
will bring unsettled weather through the workweek,
with scattered showers and storms possible each day.

DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH, NC
943 AM EDT MON MAY 2 2016

DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH, NC
940 AM EDT SUN MAY 1 2016

Moderate to heavy rainfall occurred across far western portions of
the Raleigh hydrologic service area over the past 24 hours. Total
rainfall ranged from half an inch to an inch across this area, with
amounts over an inch observed just west of the area.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms should impact the Carolinas
over the next 24 hours. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from
one half of an inch to an inch, though localized heavier amounts are
possible.

Heavy rain rates could pose a threat for brief urban or small stream
flooding across the area. Additionally, minor rises in area streams
and rivers are expected to continue. However, all main-stem rivers
are within their banks, and no flooding is expected over the next
48 hours.

Detailed river and precipitation information may be found

48 hours.

Detailed river and precipitation information may be found
on the National Weather Services Advanced Hydrologic
Prediction Service website:
