REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA
555 AM EST MON NOV 24 2014

A WARM FRONT LIFTED NORTH OF PENNSYLVANIA OVERNIGHT...BRINGING
WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AND STEADY TO SLOWLY RISING TEMPERATURES THIS
MORNING. MOST AREAS SAW BETWEEN ONE QUARTER AND ONE HALF INCH OF
RAINFALL. TEMPERATURES OVER THE SOUTHERN TIER OF PENNSYLVANIA HAD
WARMED TO THE UPPER 50S AND LOWER 60S BY DAYBREAK...WHILE READINGS
NEAR THE NEW YORK BORDER WERE IN THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 50S.

AN EXTREMELY MILD SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL BRING NEAR RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURES TO THE COMMONWEALTH THIS AFTERNOON...WITH HIGHS RANGING
FROM THE LOWER 60S NORTH TO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 70S SOUTHEAST. WINDS
WILL BE GUSTY OVER WESTERN SECTIONS AS A COLD FRONT DROPS ACROSS THE
REGION THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HIGHER ELEVATIONS COULD SEE GUSTS
BETWEEN 45 AND 50 MPH...AS COLDER AIR RUSHES IN BEHIND THE FRONT.

TONIGHT AND TUESDAY WILL BE FAIR AND COOLER...WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES
ON TUESDAY SOME 20 DEGREES LOWER THAN TODAY...RANGING THROUGH THE
40S. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE COMMONWEALTH TUESDAY NIGHT AS
COLD AIR CONTINUES TO SPILL INTO THE COMMONWEALTH. THIS WILL SET THE
STAGE FOR POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN
HALF OF PENNSYLVANIA ON WEDNESDAY...AS A STORM MOVES NORTHWARD ALONG
THE MID ATLANTIC COAST. A FEW TO SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ARE
POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AND SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS
WILL BE FELT ON ONE OF THE BUSIEST TRAVEL DAYS OF THE YEAR. PERSONS
WITH TRAVEL PLANS ON WEDNESDAY SHOULD CONSIDER ALTERNATE TIMES TO
TRAVEL...AND STAY ABREAST OF THE LATEST FORECASTS OVER THE NEXT FEW
DAYS.
