WEATHER SUMMARY FOR NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO/ROMEOVILLE IL
815 AM CST SUN DEC 21 2014 /915 AM EST SUN DEC 21 2014/

HIGH PRESSURE STRETCHED FROM THE OHIO VALLEY TO EASTERN CANADA ON
SUNDAY MORNING. THIS RESULTED IN STEADY SOUTHERLY WINDS ACROSS THE
AREA. AS HAS BEEN THE CASE THROUGHOUT ALMOST ALL OF
DECEMBER...SKIES WERE CLOUDY. A BAND OF LIGHT PRECIPITATION
BROUGHT SPOTTY LIGHT SNOW AND DRIZZLE THAT MOVED OFF TO THE EAST
BY THE MID MORNING. TEMPERATURES AS OF 8 AM WERE IN THE LOWER TO
MID 30S AND ARE EXPECTED TO RISE INTO THE UPPER 30S THIS
AFTERNOON...WHICH IS ABOVE THE AVERAGE LOW TO MID 30S FOR THE
DATE. ASTRONOMICAL WINTER BEGINS AT 503 PM CENTRAL TIME.

CLOUDS AND SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL KEEP TEMPERATURES FROM FALLING
MUCH AGAIN TONIGHT. TWO STORM SYSTEMS WILL IMPACT THE AREA BEFORE
CHRISTMAS. THE FIRST SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE PERIODS OF LIGHT RAIN
MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BE MILD DURING THIS PERIOD
WITH HIGHS IN THE 40S. THE NEXT SYSTEM WILL LIFT NORTH FROM THE
GULF COAST ON TUESDAY AND COULD STRENGTHEN AS IT TRACKS TO THE
GREAT LAKES ON CHRISTMAS EVE. DEPENDING ON THE EXACT TRACK AND
EVOLUTION OF THE STORM...ACCUMULATING SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS ARE
POSSIBLE ON CHRISTMAS EVE.
