SCATTERED SHOWERS AND DECAYING THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS SOUTH
CENTRAL AND CENTRAL KANSAS THIS EVENING. MORE NUMEROUS
THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED ALONG A COLD FRONT FROM NORTHWEST KANSAS
INTO NORTHEAST NEBRASKA. WINDS WERE OUT OF THE SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST
AROUND 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH. DECAYING SHOWERS BROUGHT A 58
MPH WIND GUST TO GREAT BEND THIS EVENING. LATE EVENING
TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM THE UPPER 60S TO MIDDLE 70S.

A VIGOROUS STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT OF THE ROCKIES AND INTO THE
THE PLAINS OVERNIGHT AND MOVING EAST OF KANSAS DURING THE
AFTERNOON HOURS ON THURSDAY. A COLD FRONT FROM NORTHWEST KANSAS TO
NORTHEAST NEBRASKA WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS
OVERNIGHT AND THURSDAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE COMMON
ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. SKIES WILL BEGIN TO CLEAR FROM
WEST TO EAST ON THURSDAY...BUT THUNDERSTORMS WILL LINGER ACROSS
MISSOURI AND EASTERN IOWA. OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL RANGE FROM THE 30S
IN THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE TO THE 50S AND 60S ACROSS MUCH OF
EASTERN KANSAS AND MISSOURI. HIGHS ON THURSDAY WILL BE IN THE 60S
AND 70S.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE OBSERVED ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS THIS
MORNING AS WARM MOIST AIR MOVED NORTH INTO KANSAS. ACCUMULATIONS
WERE GENERALLY LIGHT WITH GENERALLY LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH
OF RAIN.  OVERNIGHT LOWS WERE IN THE 50`S.

THE HEARTLAND WILL SIT BETWEEN A STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
OVER THE WESTERN HIGH PLAINS AND HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT
LAKES. THIS WILL CAUSE WINDS TO INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS
NEAR OR GREATER THAN 30 MPH. MEANWHILE...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR MUCH OF THE AFTERNOON FOR THE MID MISSOURI
RIVER VALLEY. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE
ALONG A SWIFTLY MOVING COLD FRONT TONIGHT AS A STRONG UPPER LEVEL
WAVE MOVES RAPIDLY EAST TONIGHT. LOOK FOR AFTERNOON HIGHS TO RANGE
FROM THE 60`S IN IOWA TO THE 80`S IN KANSAS AND OKLAHOMA. LOWS
TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE 30`S AND 40`S OVER THE WESTERN HIGH

LATE EVENING. TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 57 NEAR HIAWATHA TO 66
DEGREES IN ELLSWORTH. WINDS WERE SOUTHEAST ACROSS CENTRAL KANSAS
AT SPEEDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WHILE LIGHT EAST WINDS OCCURRED ACROSS
FAR EASTERN KANSAS.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE OVER THE WESTERN
STATES WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS THE ROCKIES BY EARLY MORNING
WEDNESDAY THEN INTO THE WESTERN HIGH PLAINS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
MOISTURE WILL INCREASE THROUGH WEDNESDAY AS SOUTH WINDS PREVAIL.
WINDS WILL INCREASE ON WEDNESDAY AND WIND ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN
POSTED FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS. SHOWERS AND

MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES IN PLACE THIS MORNING WITH SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE REGION. BY LATE MORNING TEMPERATURES
HAD REACHED INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 60S ACROSS EASTERN NEBRASKA
AND EASTERN KANSAS AND INTO THE LOW TO MID 70S OVER WESTERN
NEBRASKA AND WESTERN KANSAS. WINDS WERE BECOMING BREEZY OUT OF THE
SOUTH ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS WITH GUSTS UPWARDS OF 35 TO 40 MPH.

AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL PEAK IN THE UPPER 60S TO
LOW 70S ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS AND INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 70S
OVER WESTERN KANSAS. CLOUD COVER WILL INCREASE OVERNIGHT AS A
SHORTWAVE MOVES INTO WESTERN KANSAS...IN WHICH A FEW SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS WESTERN
AND CENTRAL KANSAS TONIGHT THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. THIS
