... DEEP PONDING OF WATER WILL CONTINUE ON AREA ROADS TODAY...

...URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING THREAT TO CONTINUE THROUGH
TONIGHT...

A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EAST ACROSS
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA AND MAY NOT MOVE COMPLETELY OFF OF THE
COAST UNTIL EARLY THIS EVENING. MEANWHILE AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP ALONG THE FRONT AND MOVE NORTHEAST ALONG IT
TONIGHT. THIS WILL HELP TO CONTINUE THE WIDESPREAD RAINFALL ACROSS
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH TONIGHT.

THE RAIN WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS
OF 2 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING.
THIS HEAVY RAINFALL ON TOP OF THE 2 TO 3 INCHES THAT FELL ACROSS
THE AREA DURING THE PAST 12 HOURS WILL LEAD TO URBAN AND POOR
DRAINAGE FLOODING CONCERNS ACROSS EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA TODAY
AND TONIGHT.

ONE AREA OF SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL WAS LOCATED ALONG THE IMMEDIATE
COAST FROM THE OUTER BANKS TO DOWN EAST CARTERET COUNTY WHILE
ANOTHER AREA OF SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL WAS MOVING NORTHEAST OUT OF
SOUTH CAROLINA AND WILL BE OVERSPREADING EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
BETWEEN 9 AND 11 AM. AS THESE AREAS OF RAIN MOVE ACROSS THE REGION
THEY WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE FLOODING AS THE GROUND IS
NOW SATURATED AND MANY CREEKS, STREAMS AND DITCHES ARE AT OR NEAR
BANKFULL.

RESIDENTS TRAVELING ACROSS EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA ARE ADVISED TO
USE CAUTION AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH THEIR DESTINATIONS AS
MANY ROADS HAVE DEEP PONDING OF WATER AND MANY DITCHES ARE
OVERFLOWING AND WILL FLOOD ROADS WITH ANY ADDITIONAL HEAVY
RAINFALL.

IF YOU LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA TAKE PRECAUTIONS NOW TO PROTECT
PROPERTY AS ANY ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL LIKELY LEAD TO URBAN
AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING.
