Subject:  Amended: Adjusting Issuance Times for Experimental

Gridded Marine Offshore and High Seas Forecasts in the

          National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD)

          Effective September 16, 2014

Notice amended to change issuance times. Effective Tuesday,

September 16, 2014, at 16:10 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC),

the NDFD will change the issuance times for experimental gridded

forecasts of marine elements over Atlantic and Pacific offshore

waters and high seas forecast areas.

NWS will issue grids for forecast days 1-6 at approximately

4:20 UTC, 10:20 UTC, 16:20 UTC and 22:20 UTC. Currently, NWS

issues grids for forecast days 1-3 approximately 20 minutes past

each hour, and for forecasts days 4-6, at approximately

05:20 UTC, 11:20 UTC, 17:20 UTC, 21:20 UTC and 23:20 UTC.

The new issuance schedule more closely matches the availability

of new forecasts from the Ocean Prediction Center and National

Hurricane Center Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch.

This change will affect experimental files containing data for

the NDFD Oceanic domain only. It will not affect files for

Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, the

full CONUS, or the pre-defined 16 CONUS subsectors, which will

all retain their current schedule.

Grids for the NDFD oceanic domain are experimentally available at

the following locations:

More details regarding these elements are available in the

Product Description Document in the online catalog of

Experimental NWS products and services available at:

Graphics for the oceanic grid are available via the experimental NDFD map viewer at:

General information on using NDFD elements is online at:

If September 16, 2014, is a critical weather day, this

implementation may be postponed. Users will be notified of that

decision via a TIN as far in advance as possible.
